Man confesses to murder, rape of two female neighbours, attends funeral

Must read

A chilling double murder case in Kenya has seen a major breakthrough with the arrest of Samuel Kamau, the man suspected of raping and killing two young women in Ngorongo village, Kiambu County, Kenya.

Kamau, who resides in the same neighbourhood as the victims, was apprehended on April 16 following an intensive manhunt.

The victims, Rosemary Njeri Ndekei (22) and Hellen Wambui (20) were found dead in separate incidents under horrifying circumstances.

In a disturbing twist, Kamau admitted not only to the violent crimes but also to participating in the funeral arrangements, including grave digging for both women a move that has left the community in disbelief.

The breakthrough came when investigators traced Njeri’s mobile phone, which Kamau had kept and used after her death.

Police tracked the phone’s unique IMEI code to locate him. Meanwhile, Wambui’s phone was found dumped in a pit latrine and recovered with help from locals.

Kamau reportedly confessed without hesitation and is being held in custody pending a court appearance.

Wambui’s disappearance on March 30 sparked panic. She had been sent to a nearby mobile money outlet by her mother but never came back.

Her lifeless body was discovered two days later, a short distance from their home.

Njeri’s case unfolded separately. She had travelled to visit a friend after being seen off by her boyfriend, only for her body to later turn up on a coffee farm, showing signs of acid burns.

The tragic deaths have reignited calls for better community policing and justice for women in rural areas.
