Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has rolled out new security measures across the state in response to persistent and deadly assaults on rural communities.
In a televised address on Wednesday, the governor banned nighttime cattle grazing and placed a curfew on motorcycle usage from 7pm to 6am statewide.
Describing the attacks as deliberate attempts to terrorize and uproot indigenous populations, Mutfwang stressed that his government would not tolerate any further bloodshed or intimidation.
He also outlawed the transportation of cattle by vehicles during late hours, particularly after 7pm, declaring that all directives would take effect immediately.
Referencing past tragedies in places like Dogo Na Hawa, Riyom, and the recent Bokkos Christmas Eve killings, the governor declared: “The time has come to say enough is enough. We will not normalize violence.”
He urged citizens to participate in lawful self-defence strategies and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and restoring order.
