A 27-year-old housewife, Rukayat Sodiq, has been ordered to be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Facility in Ibadan over the alleged murder of her husband, Abiodun Ibironke.
The ruling was given by Magistrate T.G. Daodu of the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, who declined to take her plea due to lack of jurisdiction.
The court ordered her remand pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution and adjourned the case to May 22 for further mention.
According to the prosecution counsel, Iyabo Oladoyin, the incident occurred on March 27 around 6:30 p.m. at Akinrinmisi area in Amuloko, Ibadan.
It was alleged that during an argument, Ms. Sodiq struck her 64-year-old husband on the head with a stick, which ultimately led to his death.
The police say investigations are ongoing as the suspect remains in custody awaiting the next legal steps.
