The Lagos State High Court in Ikeja has invalidated the removal of Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
In its ruling delivered on Wednesday, the court determined that Obasa’s ouster was unconstitutional, illegal, and without any legal standing.
The presiding judge also annulled all proceedings and decisions taken by the Assembly on January 13, 2025 the day Obasa was replaced.
Obasa had approached the court after he was forcefully removed and replaced by Mojisola Meranda.
He argued that due process was not followed and that his removal breached the provisions of the law.
The court agreed with him, declaring that the move by the House was both null and void. With this decision, all resolutions passed on that day have also been rendered invalid.
