Prof. Shittu steps in as acting FUOYE VC following Fasina’s leave

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has appointed its Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of academics, Professor Olubunmi Shittu, as the institution’s acting Vice-Chancellor.

This temporary appointment follows a request by the current Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Fasina, to embark on his accumulated annual and research leave.

In a statement released by the university’s Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council, Mufutau Ibrahim, it was revealed that the Council approved Fasina’s leave during an emergency meeting held virtually on Monday, April 14, 2025.

According to the Registrar, Prof. Fasina will be away for six months, which equates to 126 working days from his total leave entitlement of 228 days.

Consequently, Prof. Shittu, being the most senior among the university’s three Deputy Vice-Chancellors, was selected to act as Vice-Chancellor during the period, starting from April 14.
