Five individuals abducted by suspected armed bandits have been rescued by police operatives in Sabon Garin Safana, Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State, following a fierce shootout.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, intelligence reports confirmed that the bandits had stormed the village in the early hours of April 13, 2025, seizing seven people, including two infants.
“At about 2:15 a.m., the attackers invaded the community and whisked away their victims under the cover of darkness,” Makama revealed, citing credible intelligence sources.
A swift response by security forces led to a violent exchange of gunfire with the assailants, culminating in the rescue of five captives: Abdullahi Usman (40), Asma’u Abdullahi (20), Safiya Abdullahi (1), Sumayya Yahuza (20), and Fatima Yahuza (1). All were reportedly found in stable condition.
Tragically, the bandits shot and killed one of the hostages, 30-year-old Ibrahim Sale, during the encounter. Efforts are still underway to locate and free the remaining two abductees.
