The Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports suggesting that Governor Francis Nwifuru agreed to serve only a single four-year term in office.
In a statement released by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Ogbuatu Simbad, the APC firmly rejected the claim, stating that there was no agreement—either written or verbal—that commits the governor to stepping down in 2027.
Ogbuatu described the reports as misleading and unfounded, asserting that Governor Nwifuru’s tenure is in line with the party’s vision for long-term development and leadership continuity.
“At no time was there an arrangement to halt a man who is clearly fulfilling his purpose. Let it be known that Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is not planning to leave after just one term. Any narrative to the contrary is simply untrue,” he said.
He also pointed out that no previous governor of Ebonyi State has served only one term, adding that the political history of the state supports sustained leadership rather than early exits.
The APC spokesperson accused certain individuals, previously inactive in the political scene, of attempting to cause confusion and mislead the public with baseless claims.
He reassured Ebonyi residents that the people are well-informed and will not be swayed by distractions.
Ogbuatu commended Governor Nwifuru’s efforts in driving economic growth and infrastructure development, noting that his leadership has set the state on a progressive path.
He also emphasized that the APC in Ebonyi thrives on principles such as unity, humility, peace, and effective governance—not coercion or division.
The statement concluded with a strong endorsement of Governor Nwifuru’s leadership, reaffirming the party’s full support for his reelection in the next election cycle.
