Joe Igbokwe cautions on potential repercussions of ignoring South-East

Must read

Joe Igbokwe, a key figure in the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has warned that Nigeria could face serious consequences if the South-East region continues to be overlooked.

Igbokwe made the statement through his Facebook page on Saturday, as part of the ongoing debate surrounding recent appointments by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The controversy surrounding the appointments intensified after Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South criticized the perceived imbalance, suggesting that it could have negative consequences for the administration.

While the presidency has defended these appointments, asserting that they were based on merit, Igbokwe expressed concerns about the potential fallout from neglecting the South-East.

He remarked, “If Nigeria continues to disregard the South-East, treating it as if it is irrelevant, the fallout will be significant. Though the civil war has ended, its impact is still felt. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Ignoring the South-East is damaging.”
