The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has rejected the resignation of its Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei.
Peretei had submitted his resignation on Wednesday at Arogbo Ward 1 in Ese Odo Local Government Area, citing “selfish leadership” within the party as the reason for his decision.
He expressed dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership in the state, claiming they were uninterested in winning elections and that the PDP in Ondo was “transitioning from the intensive care unit to the morgue.”
In response, Bakitta Bello, Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee in Ondo, led other party leaders to Akure, the state capital, to meet with Peretei on Friday.
During the visit, Bello conveyed the party’s dissatisfaction with Peretei’s reasons for resigning.
“You are entitled to your feelings, but as an experienced politician, you should understand that several factors always influence the decisions and actions of a political party,” Bello remarked.
“You have been a loyal member, and that’s why we are here today, urging you to reconsider your decision.”
Bello emphasized that the party would not accept Peretei’s resignation, calling on him to withdraw his letter and continue his service to the party.
