Christian Chukwu, one of Nigeria’s most celebrated football figures, has passed away at the age of 74.
As reported by Vanguard, the former Super Eagles manager died on Saturday, April 11, 2025. However, the exact circumstances of his death have yet to be made public.
Chukwu had previously been the subject of false death rumours in 2021, which he publicly debunked during his 70th birthday festivities on January 4 that year.
“I am terribly embarrassed with this news that I am dead. Several people have been calling me from across the world since the news broke. I am still investigating the source of the story,” he stated at the time.
Fondly called “Chairman,” Chukwu held an iconic status both as a player and a coach in Nigerian football.
