The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has shifted the zonal congresses earlier slated for Saturday, April 12, 2025, in the North Central, South-South, and South-West regions.
This development was made public on Thursday through a statement from the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.
He explained that the rescheduling was in response to recent violent attacks in Plateau State, as a show of solidarity with the people and government of the state.
Also, the change will enable governors from the concerned zones to participate in the PDP Governors’ Forum meeting, which is scheduled to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State, on April 13 and 14.
According to the statement, the South-West zonal congress has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
However, fresh dates for the North Central and South-South congresses will be communicated later.
In the meantime, the party instructed the caretaker committee led by Chief Emmanuel Ogidi to continue overseeing the South-South zone’s affairs until a new leadership is elected.
The PDP also called on all stakeholders—including members, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and the media—to take note of the changes and adjust their plans accordingly.
