APC national director killed after paying over N50 million ransom to bandits

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been plunged into deep mourning following the confirmation of the brutal killing of its Director of Administration, Dr. Abdulraif Adekunle Adeniji, by his abductors.

Dr. Adeniji was kidnapped on January 26, 2025, by heavily armed men in the Chikakore area of Kubwa, under the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.

He had visited his brother’s residence when the gunmen stormed the area.

During the abduction, his wife was reportedly shot and killed on the spot for failing to keep pace with the assailants as they led them to an undisclosed location.

Although about N90 million was allegedly paid to secure Dr. Adeniji’s release, reports from The Guardian indicate that he was eventually murdered by the kidnappers.

In response to the tragic development, the APC’s Deputy Director of Administration, Ubagha Abel, announced on Thursday, April 10, that the party’s national headquarters would suspend all activities until Monday, April 14.

“The National Secretary has approved the closure of the National Secretariat with immediate effect,” the statement read.

“All flags are to be flown at half mast, and staff are urged to observe this mourning period in solemn reflection and prayers for the deceased.”
