Police recover three headless corpses from River in Ondo

Must read

Three decomposing, headless bodies were discovered floating in a river along the Odigbo-Ore Road in Ondo State, sparking fear and confusion among residents in the area.

According to local sources, the grim discovery was made on Sunday.

An eyewitness, identified simply as Shileola, shared that no missing persons had been reported in the surrounding communities, leading to suspicions that the victims may have been murdered elsewhere and their remains dumped in the river.

“I was completely shocked when I heard about it over the phone,” Shileola said.

“I rushed to the scene, hoping I might recognize them by their clothes or something else, but there was nothing I could use to identify them.”

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident.

Police spokesperson Alayande Olayinka explained that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at the Ore Division responded promptly to the report and dispatched officers to the site where the bodies were found.

He said the corpses were immediately evacuated and taken to a morgue.

In an effort to identify the victims, local leaders and residents were invited to the morgue, but so far, no one has come forward with any useful information.

Olayinka noted that investigators suspect the victims were not from the local communities, pointing out that the location where the bodies were found is close to the borders of Ogun and Edo States.

“We believe the bodies were dumped there by unknown individuals. The fact that the area shares boundaries with other states suggests the victims may have come from elsewhere,” he added.

Police investigations are ongoing to uncover the identities of the deceased and those responsible for the gruesome act.
