Kennedy Peretei, the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, has formally resigned his membership from the party, declaring that the party is now lifeless and headed for political irrelevance in the state.
Peretei, who once served as the PDP’s Financial Secretary between 1999 and 2003 before being elected as the party’s spokesman in 2020, made his resignation known in a letter addressed to the Chairman of Arogbo Ward One.
In the letter, he expressed deep dissatisfaction with the current state of the PDP in the state, stating that those at the helm of affairs are more interested in personal gain than winning elections.
According to him, the party has been hijacked by individuals who manipulate its structure every election cycle for selfish purposes, leaving little or no room for genuine political progress.
Peretei described the situation as frustrating and unsustainable, saying, “The same set of individuals who have weakened the party’s chances in the past three election cycles are still in control. The PDP in Ondo State, once placed in the Intensive Care Unit, is now being wheeled to the morgue.”
He further criticized some members for relying solely on campaign funds and political favors, urging them to find alternative sources of livelihood.
“To those who survive on election handouts and party benefits, I suggest they find another means to live more dignified lives instead of acting like political beggars or mere echo chambers,” he added.
