Wike’s camp plan to block Fubara’s return after emergency rule – APC chieftain

A prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has claimed that there are underground efforts aimed at ensuring that suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, does not resume office once the ongoing emergency rule in the state concludes.

Eze, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, alleged that there is a coordinated campaign to fabricate damaging allegations against the governor.

“This will be a shame to us all if we keep quiet and allow this evil to sail through,” he warned.

He also pointed fingers at associates of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, accusing them of being behind what he described as a deliberate smear campaign against Fubara.

He cited the recent media address by former Rivers Head of Service, George Nwaeke, who had accused the governor of masterminding the fire outbreak at the State House of Assembly through his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, and former Obio/Akpor Council Chairman, Chijioke Ihunwo.

Nwaeke had further blamed the governor for the entire political turmoil in the state and praised President Bola Tinubu for imposing emergency rule.

However, in a twist, Nwaeke’s wife publicly refuted his claims, disclosing that he had been lured to Abuja by a friend and political ally of Wike, Mr Ogidi, a commissioner with the National Population Commission.

She later clarified in an interview that her husband had resigned from office because he refused to endorse a $15 billion scandal aimed at falsely indicting Governor Fubara.

Eze praised the ex-head of Service’s wife for her swift action, stating, “She, having known her husband as a man of sound morals, quickly raised the alarm in an attempt to safeguard the integrity of Mr Nwaeke and that of her family, which has been discredited in the circumstance.”

Eze also accused the FCT Minister of sabotaging efforts at peace in Rivers, contrary to President Tinubu’s directive.

He insisted, “The main interest of the FCT Minister is to ensure that Fubara does not return as the Governor of Rivers State an interest that runs antithetical to democratic norms and the collective stance of Rivers people.”

He called on President Tinubu “to stand on the path of truth and not on the potpourri of false narratives and cocktail of lies served him by those who have declared themselves enemies of the state.”
