Residents of Banga Village in Zamfara State are reeling from a brutal overnight attack that has left many dead and others missing.
The assailants, believed to be bandits, invaded the village in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to information shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the gunmen arrived at about 1:30 a.m., shooting sporadically and killing several people.
“They opened fire and killed an unspecified number of residents,” Zagazola quoted intelligence sources as saying.
“They also abducted multiple villagers, but the exact number remains unknown.”
Authorities have yet to release an official statement but are said to be preparing to visit the village for an on-the-ground assessment of the tragedy.
