A resident of Delta State, Ogoro Miffy, has accused the state police command of seizing his stolen car and converting it into a patrol vehicle.

In a video that has since gone viral, Miffy narrated how his vehicle went missing in 2015 while he was attending a church event.

Following the theft, he reported the incident to officers at the Ekpan Division Police Station and proceeded to circulate information about the missing car in hopes of recovering it.

Speaking in pidgin English, he said, “Dem tell me make I go print paper for stolen vehicle. I share am everywhere for dem.”

Two years later, in 2017, he was stunned to discover that his missing vehicle was allegedly in use by officers at the same police division where he had initially filed the report.

“I see my car with police for Ekpan. Dem don turn am to police vehicle,” he claimed in the video, showing an image of the vehicle with police insignia.

According to him, he took the matter to court, and in a judgment delivered on July 19, 2018, the High Court ruled in his favor and ordered the police to pay him N10 million in compensation.

However, the police reportedly challenged the ruling at the Court of Appeal.

In his emotional appeal, Miffy said, “Is it their right to use my car? Because I no get helper, dem dey oppress me. That car na wetin I dey use survive. Now things don hard. I need help.”

Reacting to the allegation, the Delta State Police Command, through its spokesperson SP Edafe Bright, stated that initial investigations revealed the car was not currently at the Ekpan Police Station.

Edafe also urged Miffy to reach out directly to assist with further inquiries, saying, “2015 to 2017 is a long time ago. From my findings, the said vehicle is not in Ekpan Police Station.”
