Teenagers found guilty of killing 80-year-old man in racially charged park attack

A 15-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl were on Tuesday convicted of killing an 80-year-old grandfather, Bhim Kohli, in a case that adds to growing concerns over youth violence in the UK.

The teenagers, whose identities remain protected due to their ages, were found guilty of manslaughter after a six-week trial.

According to court proceedings, the male teen targeted Kohli with racial slurs and struck him in the face with a shoe while the elderly man was out walking his dog in a park in Braunstone, near Leicester, on September 1.

The female teen, meanwhile, encouraged the assault and was seen laughing as she recorded the incident on her phone, the jury heard.

Kohli succumbed to his injuries a day later in hospital.

The court was informed he had sustained a broken neck along with fractured ribs.

Although the boy faced an additional charge of murder, the jury acquitted him on that count.

Both teenagers are scheduled to be sentenced on May 20.
