Obi, Otti summon LP NEC meeting after Supreme Court sacks Abure-led leadership

Must read

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential flagbearer, and Governor Alex Otti of Abia State have jointly convened a crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 9, in Abuja.

According to a notice endorsed by both figures, the NEC gathering will be held alongside a Town Hall session aimed at engaging key stakeholders and party structures within the nation’s capital.

Those expected to participate include the Labour Party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, both current and former senators, as well as senatorial aspirants from the last general election.

Also invited are past and present members of the House of Representatives and their 2023 counterparts, members of the National Caretaker and Transition Committees, former governorship hopefuls who remain within the party, representatives from the NLC and TUC Political Commissions, and ex-members of the now-disbanded National Working Committee.

This meeting comes in the wake of a Supreme Court judgment that dissolved the leadership under Julius Abure, altering the party’s leadership dynamics.
