Kwara TESCOM selects 1,800 candidates for teaching roles across state

The Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has announced the selection of 1,800 individuals for teaching roles in public secondary schools.

According to a statement issued by Sam Onile, the Commission’s Chief Press Secretary, the successful candidates emerged after a rigorous three-month assessment process, which included computer-based tests and interviews.

A breakdown of the shortlisted candidates reveals that 790 are for STEM subjects, 581 will teach core subjects, 370 are designated for specialised areas, and 59 will handle technical subjects.

These teachers will be deployed to senior secondary schools spread across all 16 local government areas based on a needs assessment conducted by the Commission.

Applicants who attended the interview phase have been advised to visit the official portal to confirm their status.

Those who made the list will now undergo a compulsory drug screening conducted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The screening will be overseen by the Governor’s Special Assistant on Drug Abuse Control, Hon. Mukail Aileru.

The testing exercise is scheduled from Wednesday, April 9 to Saturday, April 12, 2025. Candidates from Baruten, Edu, Kaiama, and Patigi will be tested on the first day, while those from Ekiti, Ifelodun, Irepodun, and Isin will follow on Thursday.

Offa, Oke Ero, Oyun, and Moro are set for Friday, with candidates from Asa and the three Ilorin councils rounding off on Saturday.

NDLEA will transmit test results directly to the Commission to prevent manipulation.

Additionally, all selected candidates must sign a six-year bond that bars them from requesting transfers—part of efforts to strengthen rural education.

They must also present medical reports from state hospitals, original academic credentials with photocopies, handwritten acceptance letters, and complete other onboarding requirements during documentation.
