Popular Nigerian crossdresser and socialite, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, better known as Bobrisky, has revealed that he was recently scammed in an online romance fraud, losing $990 to a fraudster.
Bobrisky shared his experience with fans on Instagram on Sunday, expressing his disbelief and disappointment over the incident.
He admitted that he never imagined he would fall victim to such a scam.
According to Bobrisky, the scammer had been in contact with him for several months, initially claiming to live in the United States before later saying they had relocated to Canada.
Throughout their communication, the scammer frequently called and appeared genuinely interested in Bobrisky’s life.
“I never thought in my life I would be a client to anybody,” Bobrisky shared, explaining that their interactions had been cordial.
“This guy came to my DM, and we started talking—almost for a few months now. He calls me almost every day. He said he lived in the USA but moved to Canada.”
The scam took a turn when Bobrisky received a legitimate inquiry for an advertisement from someone in the U.S., who wanted to make a deposit via CashApp. The scammer then offered to help by providing his own CashApp account to facilitate the transaction.
“Few weeks later, someone in the USA reached out for ads. She said she needed a CashApp to pay her deposit, and I asked this guy talking to me. He said he would give me his own. As soon as he got the money, he blocked me immediately,” Bobrisky explained.
To warn his followers, Bobrisky shared screenshots of their conversations and a photo of the alleged scammer, urging his fans to be cautious and avoid falling for similar schemes.
