Supreme Court sacking Abure will restore order in Labour Party – Gov Otti

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has welcomed the Supreme Court’s recent decision that nullified the leadership of the Labour Party under Julius Abure, saying it signals a new era of peace and stability within the party.

Recall that AFRIPOST reported yesterday that the highest court in Nigeria, sacked Julius Abure as the national leader of the Labour Party.

Meanwhile, reacting to the judgment, Governor Otti noted that the court’s ruling affirms the legitimacy of the party’s current leadership.

He explained that the Abure-led National Working Committee had exceeded its term, which prompted the formation of a National Caretaker Committee now chaired by Esther Nenadi Usman, with Darlington Nwokocha as secretary.

He emphasized that the interim committee was created to promote unity and enhance the party’s structure, particularly in light of its performance during the last general elections.

Governor Otti praised the Supreme Court for delivering what he described as a fair and widely anticipated judgment.

He also appreciated loyal party members who stood firm throughout the internal crisis.

In a reconciliatory gesture, he called on the former leadership to collaborate with both the National Executive Committee and the National Caretaker Committee to strengthen the party.

He assured that the current leadership is dedicated to building a party that is inclusive and fair to all.
