A member of Oyo State Governor’s Advisory Council, Barrister Michael Lana, has mourned the death of the Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland and former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Yekini Adeojo.
Adeojo was the gubernatorial candidate of PDP during the 1999 general elections.
The former PDP chieftain died in the early hours of Friday.
Lana in a statement he personally signed described the death of Chief Adeojo as a great loss not only to Ibadanland, Oyo State but humanity as a whole, noting that he impacted lives positively across political and religious divides.
According to him, Chief Adeojo lived a life devoted to the service of Allah and humanity, stating that the Muslim Ummah and humanity as a whole will miss his exemplary leadership and devotion to the growth and success of all.
The former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Oyo State, said as a political collosus his name cannot be forgotten in the history of Oyo State.
He added that Adeojo gave his best in the service of the pace setter state and Nigeria in general.
“I want to join millions of admirers to mourn the death of an illustrious son of Ibadanland, Chief Yekini Adeojo.
“As a father figure the deep knowledge of Islamic teachings and political strategy earned Baba respect across Ibadanland, Yorubaland and the country as a whole.
“It is my fervent prayer that Almighty Allah will grant repose to his soul, the family he left behind and console all of us that he left behind.”
