Natasha vows to present evidence of sexual harassment against Akpabio

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has stated that she will present evidence to support her claims of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio at an appropriate time.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, the senator maintained her position and said she is holding back the evidence for now but will release it when the time is right.

“At the right time and in the right setting, I will bring forward the evidence I have,” she stated.

Her comments come amid ongoing controversy surrounding the allegations, which surfaced shortly after her suspension from the Senate on March 6 over what was described as “gross misconduct” following a seating dispute with Akpabio.

In the wake of her suspension, Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that Akpabio made inappropriate advances during a December 8, 2023 visit to his residence in Akwa Ibom State.

According to her, the Senate President suggested that she should “take care” of him in exchange for favourable treatment in the Senate.

In response, Akpabio publicly denied the allegations, stating on March 5 that he had never harassed Akpoti-Uduaghan or any woman.

He emphasized his upbringing under a single mother and said he holds deep respect for women.

Meanwhile, Akpabio’s wife, Ekaette, filed multiple lawsuits against Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing her of making defamatory remarks about her husband.

During the interview, the Kogi senator also addressed her accusation that Akpabio threatened her life. When asked if she could back up the claim, she responded, “Let us get to that bridge.”

She added, “I’m hearing that the Senate President is planning to sue me. I welcome it. We will meet and handle it when the time comes.”

The senator’s remarks have added more fuel to an already tense political atmosphere, with many now watching to see if and when the promised evidence will be revealed.
