On April 3, 2025, the Taraba State Police, collaborating with the military and local hunters, successfully rescued Gil Itamar, an Israeli national employed by SCC, who had been abducted in the Atim Community along the Takum/Chanchangi Road.
The kidnapping took place at around 9:15 AM when armed criminals seized Itamar.
A distress call was made to the police by Alhaji Saidu, an SCC employee, at approximately 10:30 AM, prompting an immediate response from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Takum.
Joined by personnel from the 67 PMF, the military, and local hunters, a search operation was launched.
Following a fierce gunfight, the kidnappers were forced to flee, and Itamar was rescued in Kofai Ahmadu.
He is now receiving medical care at SCC’s health facility in Takum.
Authorities are actively pursuing the criminals, vowing to ensure they face justice.
Taraba’s Police Commissioner, Bretet Emmanuel, commended the officers involved and reiterated the police’s commitment to protecting the state while tackling criminal activities head-on.
