A tragic incident unfolded in Ikobi, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State on Thursday night when armed men intercepted a Benue Links bus, fatally shooting the driver and kidnapping all the passengers.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers ambushed the vehicle along the highway, seizing all occupants except a toddler, who was left behind.
The victims were taken into a nearby forest, while the authorities have begun tracking their whereabouts.
Reacting to the incident, Mike Magaji, President of the Ochetoha K’Idoma youth wing, criticized the Benue State government for its inaction regarding the escalating insecurity.
He expressed disappointment over Governor Hyacinth Alia’s recent visit to Otukpo, stating that the trip failed to address the growing concerns of residents.
“Our people are living in fear while the government remains silent. How many more lives must be lost before decisive action is taken?” Magaji questioned.
Meanwhile, Benue Police spokesperson Catherine Anene stated that she had not yet confirmed details of the attack at the time of reporting.
