A deadly drone attack by Russian forces has left at least four people dead and over 30 wounded in Kharkiv, according to Ukrainian officials.
The city was hit late Thursday, triggering fires and damage to homes and office spaces.
“Russian drones attacked one of the districts of Kharkiv,” Ukraine’s emergency response agency said, confirming the destruction of residential and administrative buildings and the outbreak of several fires.
Mayor Ihor Terekhov announced on Friday morning that search efforts had uncovered a fourth fatality beneath the rubble, raising the death toll.
Conflicting injury figures emerged, with regional governor Oleh Synehubov citing 35 casualties, while the mayor mentioned 32.
Elsewhere, six more individuals were injured in strikes across the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kyiv regions.
Dnipropetrovsk governor Sergiy Lysak stated that 13 drones were downed, but acknowledged significant destruction: “Due to the massive drone attack, there is damage in Dnipro and its suburbs.”
Russia, in turn, reported intercepting 107 Ukrainian drones, with major activity over its Kursk and Oryol regions.
A separate attack in Bryansk left one person dead and another injured, according to Governor Aleksandr Bogomaz.
The ongoing escalation comes as U.S. President Donald Trump pushes for a truce, initiating contact with Russian leaders in a bid to end the protracted conflict.
While Washington recently claimed both Kyiv and Moscow had agreed to pursue a ceasefire focused on energy infrastructure, fresh assaults have undermined those efforts.
Ukrainian officials have appealed to the United States for harsher sanctions on Russia, accusing Moscow of breaching commitments made during earlier talks in Saudi Arabia.
