The Supreme Court has overturned the Court of Appeal’s decision that recognized Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).
In a unanimous ruling, a five-judge panel concluded that the Court of Appeal had no jurisdiction to make such a declaration, as the matter concerned the internal leadership of the party, which falls outside the scope of judicial authority.
The apex court also upheld the appeal filed by Senator Nenadi Usman and another party, declaring it valid and justified.
Additionally, the Supreme Court dismissed the cross-appeal submitted by Abure’s faction of the Labour Party, ruling it lacked merit.
