Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga (rtd), a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has been released after spending 56 days in captivity.
Tsiga was abducted on February 5, 2025, from his hometown in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, along with nine other residents.
Despite his family paying a ransom, his captors held him for additional weeks before finally letting him go.
There are conflicting reports about the ransom amount, with some sources claiming N60 million was paid, while others suggest the actual figure was nearly three times higher.
According to a family member, after the initial payment, the kidnappers remained silent for a week before finally allowing Tsiga to speak with his family.
Although the abductors later demanded additional funds, no further payments were made.
Tsiga has now regained his freedom and is reportedly in good health.
Sources indicate he is being transported from Zamfara State to Abuja.
A senior military official confirmed his release, while family members have expressed immense relief over his safe return.
