Edo Governor calls for unity following Tribunal victory

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has called on opposition parties to set aside political differences and collaborate for the state’s progress.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the governor emphasized the need for unity, urging all stakeholders to focus on collective development rather than partisan disputes.

His remarks followed the decision of the Edo State Election Tribunal in Abuja, which upheld his victory in the last governorship election.

Mr. Itua reiterated the administration’s commitment to delivering on its campaign promises, stating that legal distractions would not derail the government’s agenda.

Governor Okpebholo expressed gratitude to the tribunal for what he described as a fair and diligent judgment.

“I deeply appreciate the tribunal’s dedication to justice and fairness. Most importantly, I am grateful to the people of Edo for their unwavering support and trust in our vision for a united and prosperous state,” he said.

He stressed that the victory was not personal but a reflection of the will of the people, reinforcing his administration’s dedication to good governance, transparency, and inclusive development.

“The tribunal’s ruling is a reaffirmation of our democratic values and the overwhelming mandate given to us by the people of Edo. We will remain steadfast in our mission to build a state where everyone can thrive,” the governor added.
