Their goal is to create problems – Fubara makes fresh accusations

Must read

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has accused certain individuals of deliberately fueling the political crisis in Rivers State to destabilize governance and disrupt livelihoods.

He, however, vowed that their plans would not succeed.

Fubara made this declaration while hosting Muslim leaders from 20 Islamic groups, including the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, at his private residence in Port Harcourt during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

He reassured the Muslim community and his supporters that the ongoing crisis would not weaken the state but rather make it stronger.

He urged them to remain patient and steadfast, emphasizing that the situation was a test that would ultimately lead to a more unified Rivers.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to justice and equality, promising that the concerns of the Muslim community would be addressed once stability is restored.

He warned against those inciting unrest, stating, “Their goal is to create problems and deny people their livelihoods.

“We will not allow that. We will continue to operate peacefully and respect constituted authority to ensure Rivers remains a model for others in Nigeria.”

Speaking on behalf of the Muslim Ummah, Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor commended Fubara’s inclusive approach, contrasting it with the previous administration, which declared Rivers a fully Christian state.

He assured the governor of continued prayers and support, stressing that Islamic teachings encourage believers to persevere through trials.

Uhor also called on President Bola Tinubu to reassess the emergency rule in Rivers State and reinstate Fubara’s full authority, arguing that the governor had continued to lead effectively despite the political turbulence.
