Police rescue two abducted students in Nasarawa, arrest suspect

Two students from the Federal University Lafia, Sadiq Adinoyi and Sakina Adinoyi, have been rescued by the Nasarawa State Police Command after they were kidnapped from their lodge behind Nasara Estate, Tudun Kauri, Lafia.

According to the police, the incident occurred on March 30, 2024, around 9:20 PM. Acting on a distress call, Commissioner of Police CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed deployed officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and ‘A’ Division, Lafia, to track the culprits.

Following intelligence gathering, officers launched a rescue mission on April 1, 2025, at approximately 11:30 AM in a forest near the 500 Housing Unit along Doma Road, Lafia.

A gun battle ensued, forcing the kidnappers to flee and abandon their captives.

One suspect, Ibrahim Musa of Abuni village, Awe Local Government Area, was apprehended at the scene and has reportedly provided valuable information to aid further investigations.

CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed commended the officers for their swift response, stating, “The command remains committed to eliminating criminal activities.

“We urge our personnel to stay resolute in ensuring the safety of Nasarawa residents.”

Police Public Relations Officer SP Ramhan Nansel also confirmed the development, emphasizing, “The police will not rest until criminals are completely flushed out of the state.

“We call on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.”

Authorities have assured that efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects are ongoing.
