The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the successful rescue of 21 kidnapped victims and the recovery of N4.8 million during recent operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks across the country.
Force spokesperson ACP Muyiwa Adejobi stated that the police have intensified efforts to combat kidnapping, banditry, and illegal arms proliferation.
According to him, these nationwide operations have delivered significant results, including the arrest of key suspects, the seizure of weapons, and the disruption of organized crime.
“In a coordinated series of raids throughout the first quarter of 2025, the force delivered crippling blows to organised crime, rescuing victims, apprehending key suspects, and seizing a cache of weapons and illicit funds, marking a significant escalation in the fight against criminal elements threatening the safety and security of Nigerian citizens,” Adejobi said.
He further revealed that one of the most recent operations took place in Taraba State on March 29.
“Most recent of these operations were in Taraba State, where police operatives attached to the State Command spearheaded one such successful operation on March 29, 2025, along the Takum/Mararaba road,” he stated.
The police added that officers, in collaboration with other security agencies, responded to an ongoing kidnapping incident in Muji Town, leading to a confrontation with the criminals.
“The operatives, in conjunction with other security agencies, swiftly responded to a kidnapping in progress at Muji Town.
“A fierce gun battle ensued, leading to the rescue of twenty 20 kidnapped victims, alongside all the vehicles abandoned at the scene,” the statement read.
