Residents of Olena in the Asa community, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, have abandoned their homes after repeated assaults by suspected herdsmen.
For the past four days, the community has faced relentless attacks, resulting in multiple deaths and kidnappings.
With no security intervention, terrified villagers were left with no choice but to flee for safety on Monday night.
A resident, now seeking refuge in Upu, recounted his escape, emphasizing the severity of the crisis.
“Olena has been under attack for days. Many have been killed or kidnapped, yet no security personnel have come to our aid. I barely escaped with my family tonight,” he lamented.
Videos obtained by our reporter show panicked residents evacuating the community under the cover of darkness as violence escalated.
