Zamfara CSO dismisses APC’s claims on minimum wage implementation

The Zamfara State Rescue Movement (ZSRM), a civil society organization, has refuted claims by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage in the state is a political move to gain public support for Governor Dauda Lawal.

In a statement released on Sunday, ZSRM Coordinator Lawal Idris described the APC’s remarks as a deliberate misrepresentation of facts.

He emphasized that Governor Lawal is committed to the state’s progress and has made significant strides in restoring its economy and dignity.

“It is misleading to call the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage a deceit. Governor Lawal inherited the state in a challenging condition, yet he has taken decisive steps to transform it,” the statement read.

The group highlighted that Governor Lawal is the first leader in Zamfara to implement the new minimum wage, something the previous administration failed to achieve.

Expressing confidence in the current administration, ZSRM asserted that “there is no vacancy in the government house in 2027,” signaling strong support for Lawal’s leadership.
