Trump blasts Putin over Ukraine remarks, warns of oil tariffs on Russia

Must read

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin over his recent statements regarding Ukraine’s leadership.

Trump told journalists he was “very angry, pissed off” after Putin suggested that Ukraine should have a new transitional government.

Trump, who is seeking a return to the White House, warned that if Russia is found responsible for stalling a ceasefire, he would impose “secondary tariffs on oil, on all oil coming out of Russia.”

Despite his sharp remarks, Trump later tempered his criticism, saying he still believes Putin “is going to be good.”

He also took a swipe at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, faulting him for not securing a minerals deal with the U.S.

Meanwhile, the war in Ukraine continues, with Russian forces intensifying their attacks on Kharkiv for a second consecutive night.

Ukrainian officials reported that overnight airstrikes injured two people and damaged private homes. Earlier on Sunday, six separate strikes on the city left two dead and 25 wounded.
