Former Rivers State Head of Service, George Nwaeke, has doubled down on his claims of large-scale corruption under suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, insisting he will provide evidence when summoned by security agencies.
“I cannot reveal everything to the media,” Nwaeke said. “But when called upon, I will provide sensitive details to the appropriate authorities.”
He also accused Fubara of plotting to attack the state’s legislative complex.
However, his wife, Florence Nwaeke, dismissed the allegations, stating that her husband was forced to speak under duress.
“That interview was not voluntary. He has been taken against his will,” she claimed.
Omuma stakeholders also rejected Nwaeke’s statements, reaffirming their support for Fubara.
Speaking at a press conference, Maximus Nwafor described the allegations as “desperate lies,” adding, “We are deeply disappointed that one of our own would attempt to tarnish the reputation of a governor who has been good to Omuma.”
Nwafor further accused Nwaeke of attempting to blackmail state officials for financial gain.
“It is public knowledge that he sought financial help from the governor and Chief of Staff but, out of impatience, resorted to falsehood,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State government has dismissed the allegations, with Fubara stating that Nwaeke had been “compromised” and was being used to undermine his administration.
