The former Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, has alleged that the suspended governor, Siminalayi Fubara, ordered the bombing of the state House of Assembly complex in 2023 to prevent his impeachment by lawmakers loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Nwaeke made this claim while speaking to journalists on Friday.
However, in a surprising turn of events, his wife, Florence, later raised alarm, insisting that the man seen in the interview was not her husband.
Wife Claims Husband Is Missing
In an emotional interview with Channels TV on Friday night, Florence expressed shock over the interview, stating that she had not been able to reach her husband since he traveled to Abuja.
“When he got to Abuja, he called to say he had landed safely, and I thanked God,” she recounted. “The next thing I saw was people calling me, saying he was granting an interview. I was confused—what interview?”
According to Florence, when she saw the footage circulating online, she immediately doubted its authenticity.
“I said, ‘That is not my husband! That is not my husband!’ I sent him messages asking if he was under duress or had been kidnapped, but he hasn’t responded.”
Desperate for answers, she pleaded with Nigerians to help find her husband.
Forced Resignation
Florence further claimed that her husband resigned under pressure from certain individuals who wanted him to sign documents implicating Governor Fubara.
“He told me he would rather resign than sign those documents. So he wrote his resignation letter,” she explained.
Appealing to the governor for intervention, she cried out, “Governor, help me! My husband is in trouble!”
As the situation unfolds, concerns continue to grow over Dr. Nwaeke’s safety and the circumstances surrounding his recent statements.
