Dr. Emana Ambrose-Amawhe, the deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 Cross River State election, has announced her resignation from the party.
In a letter dated March 28, 2025, and addressed to the chairman of Edem Odo Ward in Akpabuyo Local Government Area, Ambrose-Amawhe stated that her decision was effective immediately.
She expressed gratitude for the opportunities the PDP had given her but cited the current state of affairs within the party as a key factor in her decision to step away.
“This decision was not made lightly,” she wrote. “I sincerely appreciate the platform the PDP provided me to contribute to the party’s growth and to serve as the Deputy Governorship Candidate in the last election. It was an honor to be part of the party’s vision and to engage meaningfully with the people.”
Ambrose-Amawhe emphasized that while she was leaving the PDP, she remained committed to serving Cross River State and Nigeria in other capacities.
She previously ran for a seat in the House of Representatives for the Bakassi/Akpabuyo/Calabar South Federal Constituency under the PDP before being selected as the running mate to Senator Sandy Onor in the 2023 governorship election.
