The Zamfara State Police Command has successfully repelled an attack by armed bandits in Tsafe Local Government Area, killing several assailants, including a notorious leader known as Dan Mudale.
In a statement released on Friday, police spokesperson Yazid Abubakar confirmed that security forces were alerted when a good Samaritan reported a large group of armed criminals invading Keta town with violent intentions.
“At approximately 1540hrs, a good Samaritan reported that a large number of armed bandits had stormed Keta town with the intention of perpetrating inhumane acts,” Abubakar stated.
In response, a combined team of police officers from the Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, local hunters, and Community Protection Guards mobilized to confront the assailants.
“Regrettably, one PMF personnel, four Community Protection Guard (CPG) members, and two hunters made the ultimate sacrifice during the attack,” Abubakar stated.
He added that the two injured hunters are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau.
The police urged residents to trust their commitment to restoring peace and called on the public to report any suspicious activities to security agencies for swift intervention.
