Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has adjusted the 24-hour curfew previously imposed on Ifon and Ilobu/Erin-Osun communities in Orolu and Irepodun local government areas.
In a statement released on Friday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor announced that the curfew would now be in effect from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. daily, starting immediately until further notice.
Adeleke explained that the decision was made to ease the hardship faced by residents and allow them to meet their urgent needs.
He also commended the communities for maintaining peace but expressed concern over reports of another killing, for which the police have made an arrest.
Warning against any further violence, the governor stated that anyone caught instigating unrest would face severe consequences.
He also directed the joint security task force to maintain 24-hour surveillance to prevent any acts of lawlessness.
Furthermore, Adeleke instructed the state emergency agency to continue providing support for displaced residents as previously ordered.
