Ben Murray-Bruce, a former senator and prominent media executive, has defended Senate President Godswill Akpabio against corruption allegations made by ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
During an Arise News interview, Atiku accused Akpabio of corruption, referencing his tenure as Akwa Ibom governor.
He linked the Senate President’s leadership to the lawmakers’ approval of President Tinubu’s emergency declaration in Rivers State.
In a Facebook post, Murray-Bruce countered the claim, asserting that Akpabio had been subjected to independent investigations and had emerged without blemish.
He praised Akpabio’s character and contributions to Nigeria’s governance, urging caution in making politically motivated statements.
Expressing concern over attacks on the legislature, Murray-Bruce stated that partisan politics should not weaken national institutions.
He pledged unwavering support for Akpabio, emphasizing that speculation and rumors cannot override factual evidence.
