Divorce saga: Annie Idibia make dramatic comeback to social media, wipes Instagram clean

Must read

After weeks of silence, actress Annie Macaulay-Idibia has made a quiet yet dramatic return to Instagram—by erasing her entire page.

The move, which happened early Thursday morning, comes shortly after her estranged husband, Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, was spotted shopping at a luxury boutique with Edo lawmaker Natasha Osawaru.

Since news of their separation broke in January, Annie has kept a low profile, offering no public statements.

Now, with her social media completely wiped, fans are left speculating about what’s next for her.

The public unravelling of their marriage began when 2Baba took to Instagram in January to announce, “Annie Macaulay and I have been separated for a while now and have filed for divorce.”

Though he later deleted the post, he went live to confirm it, stating, “No one hacked my account. I said what I said.”

The couple, once seen as one of Nigeria’s most iconic love stories, further cemented their split by unfollowing each other online.

Annie, who featured in 2Baba’s African Queen video and married him in 2012, has openly discussed the emotional toll of their relationship, including struggles with infidelity and personal hardships.

On Young, Famous & African, she shared her pain over a miscarriage and feeling overlooked in the marriage.

Meanwhile, 2Baba appears to be moving on. A viral video from March 25 captured him at Seyi Vodi’s fashion store with Natasha Osawaru, who could be heard saying, “Came shopping. Wearing this to parliament on Monday.”

This follows another viral clip from February where 2Baba was seen proposing to Natasha, triggering mixed reactions and concerns from his family.

Now, Annie’s decision to erase her online presence has fueled speculation. Some believe she’s signalling a fresh start.

One X user, @Olayinka, commented, “When a woman clears her whole page like that, just know she’s entering a new era. Annie no dey play.”

Another fan wrote, “Never too late to start all over.”

While Annie still retains “Idibia” in her Instagram handle, she has yet to make any public statement about the situation.
