The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has announced the immediate suspension of all political appointees and government officials in the state.
A statement released on Wednesday by the Chief of Staff to the Administrator indicated that the decision was made under the authority granted to Ibas by President Bola Tinubu.
Those affected by the suspension include the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff, commissioners, heads and members of boards, agencies, and commissions, as well as Special Advisers, Special Assistants, and Senior Special Assistants.
Suspended officials have been instructed to transfer their responsibilities to the Permanent Secretaries of their respective ministries, departments, and agencies. Where a Permanent Secretary is unavailable, the most senior Director or Head of Administration will take over.
