Dr. George Nwaeke has stepped down from his role as the Head of the Rivers State Civil Service.
His resignation was confirmed in a statement issued by the Chief of Staff to the state’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), and made public on Tuesday morning.
The Sole Administrator acknowledged Nwaeke’s service and extended his best wishes for future endeavors.
“The office of His Excellency, the Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (retd.) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR, announces the resignation of the Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke. His Excellency appreciates his contributions and wishes him success in his future pursuits,” the statement read.
In a related development, Ibas has appointed Prof. Ibibi Worika as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
A statement from the administrator’s office highlighted Worika’s extensive background in academia, international law, and policy advisory roles.
“His Excellency, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (retd.) CFR, is pleased to appoint Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new SSG. His selection follows a thorough evaluation of his qualifications and performance.
“Professor Worika’s expertise will be essential in supporting the administrator’s efforts to ensure stability and security in Rivers State. His appointment takes immediate effect,” the statement added.
