Security forces under Operation Safe Haven have arrested a suspected cattle rustler and seized firearms, ammunition, and stolen livestock in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Acting on intelligence about criminal activity near the Youth Centre in Sabon Layi, troops of the 3 Division launched a clearance operation targeting a cattle rustling syndicate.

During the raid, the soldiers engaged the suspects in a gunfight, causing them to flee and abandon the stolen cattle.

According to a military statement released on Sunday, one suspect, identified as 29-year-old Nashak Wilson from Jwakkom Village, was apprehended with an AK-47 rifle loaded with two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

In addition to recovering the weapon, the troops rescued 30 stolen cows, which were returned to their rightful owner, Alhaji Yakuba Musa of Kwahas Village.

The military confirmed that the suspect remains in custody, and further investigations are underway to track down the remaining members of the rustling gang.
