A fuel tanker erupted in flames on Sunday in Kontagora, Niger State, causing widespread panic among residents and road users.
The incident, which took place near AA Rano, directly opposite Kontagora General Hospital, fortunately did not result in any casualties.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the tanker suddenly caught fire, sending thick black smoke into the air.
Emergency responders and firefighters quickly arrived at the scene, working to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to surrounding buildings.
Despite the intensity of the fire, only the tanker was destroyed.
Hussaini Ibrahim, Director of Information at the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), reassured the public that the situation had been brought under control.
Speaking to Channels Television, Ibrahim confirmed that no lives were lost, and no other property was affected.
While the exact cause of the explosion remains unknown, early reports suggest that a mechanical failure or fuel leakage might have triggered the fire.
