The Nigerian Army has arrested Fidelis Adamu, the alleged leader of the cult group known as Jungle Boys, and a suspected cattle rustler, Nashak Wilson, in Plateau State.
In a statement on Sunday, Samson Nantip Zhakom, spokesman for Operation SAFE HAVEN, revealed that troops acted on intelligence indicating that Jungle Boys were planning attacks on politicians and community leaders in response to the ban on illegal mining in the state.
Adamu was apprehended on March 20, 2025, at Angwan Gainyeh in the Sakon-Gyel area of Jos South LGA.
Additionally, troops from Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A engaged armed criminals in a gunfight near the Youth Centre at Sabon Layi.
During the operation, 29-year-old Nashak Wilson was captured with an AK-47 rifle loaded with two rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.
Further searches led to the recovery of 30 rustled cows, which were later returned to their rightful owner.
The army reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security and preventing criminal activities in the region.
