Police apprehend suspected car thief, recover two stolen vehicles in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old suspect linked to an armed robbery syndicate notorious for car theft.

Confirming the arrest in a statement on Saturday, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed that the suspect was apprehended in the Ikotun area following intelligence-led operations.

According to Hundeyin, the syndicate primarily targets vehicles in the eastern region of Nigeria, transporting them to Lagos for sale.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to receiving three Lexus 330 models and one Lexus 350 (2017 model) from an accomplice—a woman who remains at large.

The suspect later led officers to the location where some of the stolen vehicles had been sold. As a result, the police successfully recovered a silver Lexus 350 and a black Lexus 330.

Efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the gang and recover the remaining stolen vehicles.

Hundeyin added that the suspect is currently assisting police operatives in the investigation.
