The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Wilfred Afolabi, has sought closer cooperation with the Fulani community to enhance security across the state.

Speaking during a security meeting in Owo, Afolabi emphasized the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and community leaders as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety.

He urged the Fulani leaders to remain vigilant and avoid harboring criminals under any pretext.

He also encouraged them to provide useful intelligence to aid the fight against crime, particularly kidnapping, while reinforcing the role of security agencies.

The police commissioner further highlighted the need for peaceful coexistence between herders and farmers, stressing that grazing on farmlands could lead to conflicts.

He noted that both groups depend on their livelihoods, and respecting boundaries is crucial for maintaining harmony.

In response, representatives of the Fulani community commended the police for their role in maintaining order and pledged their support in fostering peace.

They also assured the police of their willingness to share relevant information to aid crime prevention efforts.

The Ondo State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding all residents and ensuring a secure environment for all communities in the state.
